After the success of the Clean-Up Drive and Feeding Program at Barangays 530 and 531, the members, aspirants and volunteers of Sampaloc Manila Royal Eagles Club headed to the Kubo Grill located at Sto. Tomas Street corner Blumentritt Extension to conduct our General Membership Meeting or GMM which is being held once a month. GMM provides a great deal of camaraderie for the members of the Club, it doesn’t just updates all the members for all activities and plans of the Club for the future events, it also serves as an avenue to remind everyone on how to behave as an Eagle, especially while wearing a Club Shirt or anything that identifies us as a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles (Philippine Eagles).
Before the meeting commences, a prayer was solemnly
remarked, it is our act of communication with the sacred or holy God. It was
followed by the Philippine Eagles Hymn.
Then the meeting proper was held. First thing on the Agenda was to introduce all the Aspirants. One by one, the Aspirants takes their turns on presenting themselves to the Club. They state their names, what they do for a living and of course, what makes them decide to become an Eagle.
Unanimously, all Aspirants wanted to become an Eagle because all they wanted was to serve for the general public, especially to be of service to those unfortunate, poor, helpless and deprived people. When asked how they come across with the Organization, they all have answered differently, some Aspirants gained knowledge about the Eagles through a friend and relatives, some through social media and some through a simple street conversation with neighbors. For all reasons, one thing is common among Aspirants, they gain knowledge about the existence of The Fraternal Order of Eagles as they are seeing the members conducting community services within their community.
The next point in the Agenda is the upcoming Induction of the new members of the Sampaloc Manila Royal Eagles Club along with other three Clubs under The National Capital West Region. The Induction, which is tentatively as of this writing, will be held at The Pearl Manila Hotel located along Taft Avenue in Manila on November 18, 2022.
Kuya Pres Marlon R. Estacio reiterated the importance of the
5 I’s on “How to Become a Member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles” which are;
The Interview, The Introduction, The Inception, The Incubation and finally, The
Induction.
After all Aspirants introduce themselves, all regular members then presented themselves to everyone. One by one, they stated their names and their respective duties as an officer of the Club.
Then began "The Interview" for all Aspirants.
Then, of course, members are being reminded of all fees and obligations. Those funds are being held quite thorough, methodical and meticulously by Kuya Treas Roel De Torres. This fund is the Core for all community service of the Club.
Minor details about the upcoming Induction was discussed,
along with all the suggestions for the next community service.
Kuya Pres Marlon again reminded everyone as one viral video
on social media emerged where a member of the Philippine Eagles confronted a
Rider who wears an Eagle long sleeve shirt, a Kuya then instructed the Rider to
remove the Eagle Logo on his shirt so that, according to said Kuya, the Rider
will not use that shirt again. The Rider claims that he is not a member of the
Organization. Kuya Pres Marlon advised and emphasized that The Sampaloc Manila
Royal Eagles Club do not share the same approach on the matter. He said that
someone can choose a hundred more ways to beseech the Rider and decide on the
situation in a more humane manner.
All in attendance, 20 Regular members attended the GMM with 15 Aspirants and 1 Volunteer.
Then everyone enjoyed the feast. One popular dining method
or practice here in the Philippines is the “Boodle Fight” where everyone will
share the food eating in one stretch of banana leaf. To enjoy this kind of
culinary experience, you have to eat with your bare hands.
The members along with the loved ones, Aspirants and volunteers enjoyed the GMM as they share their stories with one another.
Before we end this, we leave you with, “When leaders know
how to lead great meetings, there's less time wasted and less frustration. We
have more energy to do the work that matters, realize our full potential, and
do great things.” -Justin Rosenstein
